Cherub Cheesecake

Cheesecake is believed to have originated in ancient Greece. History has the first recorded mention of cheesecake, as being served to the athletes during the first Olympic Games held in 776 B.C. However, cheese making can be traced back as far as 2,000 B.C., anthropologists have found cheese molds dating back to that period. The Romans spread cheesecake from Greece to across Europe. Centuries later cheesecake appeared in America, the recipes brought over by immigrants. In 1872, cream cheese was invented by American dairymen, who were trying to recreate the French cheese, Neufchâtel.James L. Kraft invented pasteurized cheese in 1912, and that lead to the development of pasteurized Philadelphia® cream cheese, the most popular cheese used for making cheesecake today. Our Cherub Cheesecakes are made fresh daily with only the finest of ingredients. There are no substitutes or imitations. Our chocolate is imported from Belgium, the single best importer of its kind.

Beckoning Brownies

Chocolate brownies are what ‘real’ food should be about. The kind of food you can get stuck into, suck from your fingers and eat more of than you know you should. Nobody really knows the origin of this gloriously gummy cake bar, but the myths are as enticing as the brownie itself. The most popular version has it that Mildred Schrumpf, a home economics teacher in Maine, forgot to add the baking powder to the chocolate cake she was demonstrating to her class. She did not reveal this lapse, but simply removed the flat, squidgy sponge from the oven, cut it into squares and announced she had cooked some ‘Brownies’. Bostonians will dispute this tale. They have it that a local pastry chef was busy melting chocolate for a pudding with one hand while mixing the ingredients for butter cookies with the other when a fire broke out in the kitchen. Muddled by all the surrounding confusion involved in dousing it, he poured the chocolate into the biscuit batter. As reluctant as Mildred Schrumpf to broadcast his mistake, he baked the mixture, cut the level mass into rectangles and called them Boston Brown Bars. One thing is certain – no matter what country you’re in – brownies are a matter of personal taste, and because no real chef gives out his "secret" recipe, you'll just have to taste one of our delectable brownies to see what you have been missing!
